Gramps Web continues to expand its genealogy tools, and the latest release 25.9 introduces a milestone: Y-DNA visualization. For the first time in an open-source genealogy system, you can explore your paternal lineage directly within Gramps Web, and this feature is now live on Grampshub.
The purpose of Grampshub has always been to make it simple for anyone to use Gramps Web without needing to worry about hosting, backups, or server maintenance. But beyond convenience, I also hoped that Grampshub could give something back — that the subscription fees could help fund improvements to Gramps Web itself, supporting the open source project that makes all of this possible.
Gramps 6.0 has been released in March, and with it comes a host of improvements, many of which also benefit Gramps Web. Yesterday, after weeks of work & testing, a new Gramps Web version has been released that is based on Gramps 6.0. Since upgrading from Gramps 5.2 (on which Gramps Web was based so far) requires changes to the family tree database, additional steps are needed.
Just before the end of the year 2024, two notable updates went live on Grampshub: a brand new customer portal and lower subscription prices!
