Gramps Web is a modern genealogy web app based on the popular and powerful Gramps desktop app. Grampshub is a hosting service that wants to make getting started with Gramps Web simpler for everyone. Grampshub is run by David Straub, who also played a major role in starting Gramps Web and is a main contributor to the open source project.
Sign up with your email address and we will send you a confirmation link. Once you have confirmed it, you choose your plan in the customer portal and complete checkout with our payment partner, Stripe. Your tree is then created automatically and you will receive an email with a link to it. If it has not arrived within a few minutes, please check your spam folder.
No. Gramps Web is free and open source, and you are welcome to run it on your own server — the documentation at grampsweb.org shows you how. Grampshub is for people who would rather not: it lowers the barrier by taking care of installation, security and updates, for a monthly fee. You are paying for the hosting, never for the software — and what is left over funds the continued development of Gramps Web.
Grampshub offers hosting for Gramps Web. If any issues arise related to subscriptions or provisioning of a new tree, please reach out to our customer service. However, Grampshub does not offer support for Gramps Web itself. Gramps Web is an open source community product. Please check out the website of Gramps Web to find all the support channels of the community. People are helpful over there!
Your data is used solely to run your family tree — nothing else. There is no advertising, no data mining, and no sharing with third parties.

All data is transmitted over HTTPS, and storage is encrypted at the infrastructure level. Like any web application, the server processes your data to deliver the service — this is what makes search, sharing, and maps work. Because Gramps Web is fully open source, you can inspect exactly what the software does.

Grampshub operates under German and EU law, including the GDPR. Your data is stored only as long as necessary and never used for any purpose beyond running your subscription.

Grampshub was founded by the same person who started Gramps Web — a project created precisely as a privacy-respecting alternative to commercial genealogy platforms.
To manage your subscription, click on the “Customer Portal” link in the top menu bar. In the Customer Portal, you can cancel your subscription, upgrade or downgrade your plan, or add additional subscriptions for separate family trees.
